About

ABOUT DMPK AFRICA

A continental network for African DMPK.

The networking and capacity-building arm of the Pan-African DMPK Centre of Excellence at AiBST, launched August 2023.

OUR VISION

Visible, relevant, indispensable.

To position African DMPK scientists as visible, relevant and indispensable leaders within the global drug discovery and clinical development landscape — driving innovation and health security from the continent.

OUR MISSION

A connected DMPK community.

To build a powerful, connected DMPK community across Africa — turning a fragmented talent pool into a cohesive force for global drug discovery and development innovation.

01

Connect.

Uniting African DMPK scientists from leading research institutions into a unified, vibrant network. The site is the meeting place; the network is the work.

02

Empower.

Providing targeted training, specialised resources, and access to cutting-edge scientific advances — through workshops, webinars, member protocols and shared equipment.

03

Advance.

Identifying Africa-specific DMPK needs and commissioning targeted, high-impact research — anchored in African biology and addressing continent-specific challenges.

04

Elevate.

Facilitating industry partnerships and integration with leading international DMPK societies — making African expertise indispensable to global drug discovery.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES

Connect. Empower. Advance. Elevate.

The four objectives that shape every decision the network makes.

African DMPK scientists are not a frontier to be discovered — we are a network already at work. DMPK Africa is the front door.

— PROF. COLLEN MASIMIREMBWA, CHAIR, DMPK AFRICA

OUR BACKGROUND

From AiBST’s Centre of Excellence to a continental network.

DMPK Africa emerged from the Pan-African DMPK Centre of Excellence established at the African Institute of Biomedical Science & Technology (AiBST) in Zimbabwe. Launched in August 2023, it functions as the networking and capacity-building arm of AiBST’s DMPK CoE.

The network makes African DMPK scientists visible, relevant and impactful within the global drug discovery landscape — opening doors to industry partnerships, expert support and engagement with leading international DMPK societies.
